As a Spurs fan I have seen it all; the highs, the lows, the disappointments, the amazing players, and the transfer flops.
But this season has to be up there with the most ridiculous. I know it’s only October, but there’s one thing that’s simply not acceptable. Despite being named the team in Europe with the highest profit, we’ve only got one centre forward.
That one centre forward is 21-years-old Harry Kane. It’s only his second full season in the first team. He played in the U21 European Championships last summer and is probably going to the European Championships next summer with the England national team, meaning he’s not going to have a proper break for three full seasons.
Of course, last season was unbelievable and I do believe that Kane have another good season, but right now he is feeling the incredible pressure being put on him by being the one and only at White Hart Lane.

At the end of the transfer window we were told both Clinton N’Jie and Heung-min Son can and will be used as strikers, which is yet to be the case. They can be used to compliment Kane, but they are not going to replace him outright. You could look through every squad in every league at any standard, and they will all have more than one striker. It’s an absolute disgraceful situation to be in. Spurs sold Roberto Soldado without replacing him, so where did the money go? In a nice ISA to make some interest?
So, who is to blame for the situation? The manager for not demanding a transfer? The scout who didn’t identify a suitable replacement? The chairman for not getting a deal done? When it comes to Tottenham, who knows? No one is ever accountable. Did they seriously think Kane was going to play every game in every competition until January, when they might buy someone to help the load? Most teams have three strikers as a bare minimum, and most Spurs would be happy with two we are not a unrealistic bunch but having just one is a total embarrassment.
There were plenty of options throughout the summer; a young prospect to be Kane’s back-up, a foreign import, a proven Premier League player, the choice was theirs, but they chose to do nothing.
This issue is nothing to do with money as we had more than enough to do what was needed but, yet again, Daniel Levy knows best and his attitude often has a negative effect on the team.
I know he is bringing a nice new stadium but I, for one, do not believe he will change course once its built. He still won’t put the squad ahead of the business. The biggest frustration is that the fans are the ones who suffer, along with Kane’s legs. We have the second most expensive season tickets in the Premier League, and for what? ‘What ifs’ and a tired striker?
